A law firm letterhead you can download free

Client letters, engagement notes, and correspondence with other counsel should look like they came from a firm, not from a blank word processor. This layout keeps the masthead formal and leaves the page clear for the letter.

A quiet page reads as more deliberate than a crowded one.

What belongs on a law firm letterhead

Use the firm’s name as it appears on filings and engagement letters. If the firm is Hale & Mercer, that is the name on the sheet, not a marketing slogan beside it. A short line such as “Attorneys at Law,” or a real practice focus, is enough under the name.

Include one office address, a phone number, a general email, and the website. If the firm has several offices, the letterhead usually carries the office sending the letter. A second city can go in the footer note when a letter needs it.

A footer line such as “Confidential correspondence” is a design convention. It does not replace the notice your jurisdiction expects inside the letter when privilege or confidentiality is actually at issue. Confirm the wording against your own professional rules before you print a stack.

What to leave off

Skip novelty type, a row of social icons, and a tagline that sounds like an advertisement. Gold text on cream often fails in a laser printer and is hard to read at the size of a footer. Keep small text in a dark ink.

Do not list every practice area. The letter can name the matter. The sheet should still look right in five years, after the firm’s site menu has changed.

A layout that suits chambers

The Chambers template centers the name, sets the description in italic, and closes the header with a double hairline. Contact details sit in the footer so the body of the letter has a wide quiet field. Cormorant Garamond is the traditional pair. Navy or black both print cleanly. The sample opens with Hale & Mercer so you can see the proportions, then you replace every line.

Read the size and margin guide before you send the PDF to a printer, and the checklist of what to include if you are still deciding which lines earn a place.

Download the file without an account

When the masthead looks right, download the PDF, SVG, or 300 DPI PNG. Letterhead Maker does not ask for an account, an email address, or a payment before it gives you the file. There is no watermark. Save the project file if you want to change the address later without starting over.

Questions

Can a law firm download the letterhead without creating an account?

Yes. You design the sheet and download the PDF, SVG, and PNG in the browser. Letterhead Maker does not ask you to register or to leave an email address.

Should the confidentiality line go on the letterhead?

A short footer line is common. It is not a substitute for the notice that belongs in the letter itself. Check the rule that applies to your bar before you treat a footer as a privilege legend.
